(916) 279-6194 Project Director: Barbara Rutherford WELCOME TO WARNER MOUNTAIN INDIAN HEALTH PROJECT! The Fort Bidwell Reservation Northern Paiute Tribe's ancestral territory encompasses three counties: Modoc, Lake and Klamath. The climate is typical of interior Northern California characterized by hot, dry summers and cold, freezing winters. Most of the area is mountainous with over 50 percent being heavily forested. Average elevation is 4,500 feet. SITE The main clinic of the Warner Mountain Indian Health Project is located in Fort Bidwell, CA in Northwest Modoc County. The project provides primary, ambulatory health care to its Indian population. Through a contract health program, specialty care services not offered in the clinic are purchased from outside providers. The principal referral facility is Surprise Valley Community Hospital in Cedarville, CA. This hospital provides general medicine and surgery with 8 Medical/Surgical and 14 LTC beds.
