The California Rural Indian Health Board is pleased to announce the second annual

California American Indian
PATHWAYS to INJURY PREVENTION
Conference

The California Rural Indian Health Board (CRIHB) and the California Area Indian Health Service (IHS) are co-sponsoring this 3½ day Introduction to Injury Prevention training course. This course is a required prerequisite for the IHS fellowship and other more advanced IHS injury prevention training courses.

Participants will be introduced to the core components of the public health approach to preventing injuries among American Indians. Throughout the course, participants will work in small teams to address specific injury issues based on actual Tribal communities throughout the country. Participants will gain knowledge and skills related to:

  • Interpreting Injury Data
  • Identifying Causes of Injuries
  • Working with Injury Coalitions
  • Program Evaluation
  • Marketing
Please join us for this important workshop to learn about the fundamental principles of injury prevention. The Conference will be held August 6-9 at the CRIHB Board Room in Sacramento.

    America Reaffirms Health Care for Indian Country
    National Indian Health Board

    Washington, DC – The United States’ 564 federally‐recognized tribes claim victory with today’s
    historic passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The House passed the Senate’s
    health care reform bill by a vote of 219 to 212 which includes the reauthorization of the Indian Health
    Care Improvement Act (IHCIA), placing in effect health care legislation that American Indians and
    Alaska Natives have been requesting from Congress for the past ten years.
