Home SAFE
Home is where Native Americans feel most safe, yet home is also the place where many injuries and deaths related to injuries occur, especially where young children or Elders are present.
In order to increase individual, family and home safety awareness, CRIHB will be disseminating injury prevention information and will be distributing smoke detectors, first-aid kits, and child injury prevention packets to families in need in several tribal areas of California.
As part of the Home SAFE (Safety for American Indian Families and Elders) Program, CRIHB will also develop clinic protocol for home safety inspections, smoke detector and Child Injury Prevention kits give-away, etc. for interested Tribal Health Programs and will train outreach staff in home safety checks.
We hope to expand this exciting injury prevention program and offer services to more Tribal Health Programs as more funding becomes available.
